Adam,
I must say the sloths are very curious animals. Sometimes very ugly (almost scary) and other times very peaceful looking. Do they seem friendly, or pretty oblivious to people?
Despite their smug smile and peaceful appearance, sloths do not hesitate to display their long, hook-shaped claws upon close encounters with humans. A teacher here once tried to pick up and move a sloth as it tried to cross the street in broad daylight. She ended up with more than a few stitches.
